The SEAL Arts Project

The SEAL project - developing the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning through the Arts

During the past year an exciting and innovative project has been taking place in a number of Torbay's primary schools. Daisi has been working with Torbay council to deliver arts workshops in schools including street dancing, film making, printmaking and musical theatre, all of which have been designed to help develop social and emotional aspects of learning.

Each workshop was individually created by an artist and school and each focused on a different area of good social and emotional skills, including helping pupils to make friendships, deal with conflict, manage strong feelings, recover from setbacks and respect others' rights.

The feedback from the participants was incredibly positive, and we are pleased to announce that as a result of the tremendous success of this project Torbay Council and Daisi intend to run it again during 2011. If you are a primary school in Torbay, and would like to get involved, please do contact Clare Hearn at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
