Devon Cultural Education Partnership (DCEP) 

Local Cultural Education Partnerships (LCEPs) support children and young people to fulfil their creative potential and access high-quality cultural experiences where they live, where they go to school, and where they spend their free time.  

Partners come together from across sectors, responding to local needs and interests, to drive a more joined-up cultural education offer, share resources, and improve the visibility of cultural education in their local area. 

Devon CEP (DCEP) is a strategic partnership working together to increase engagement in cultural education for children and young people in our local area. 

DCEP currently meets twice per term as a whole group, and we also form working parties when needed.  We have an online platform where we share communications and relevant information within the group.  DCEP works closely with Torbay’s CEP, TASN (Torbay Arts and Schools Network). 

DCEP seeks to reflect the diversity of our locality and the world around us and we are committed to cultivating a culture of inclusion.   

We warmly welcome representatives from cultural organisations, education settings, music education hubs, the youth sector, local authority, local employers, creative industries, freelancers, organisations with specialisms such as health and planning, and local communities to get in touch and take part in DCEP.  Please contact, or one of the Devon Cultural Partnership members who include:

DCEP current priorities are: 

  • Stronger Together – increasing demand and engagement from more vulnerable children and young people 
  • Shared knowledge – the more we know each other and what we are each doing the more we can work strategically together to make best use of resources and address gaps, and the more effectively we can communicate need 
  • Visibility, advocacy and influence – raising awareness of the value of young people’s cultural engagement among influencers and decision makers.  Communicating the richness of what’s available and its impact 
  • Inclusion – ensuring diverse voices influence DCEP.  Strategies to find the best way of engaging in the DCEP, for example for: young people; freelancers; teachers; youth workers; local authority 
  • Shared initiatives or funding bids – the DCEP aims to work at a strategic level and is not primarily intended to make or deliver extra activity itself.  However, from time-to-time new collaborative initiatives grow out of the group for example: to address identified needs; or make best benefit of national opportunities
