For Teachers
Daisi offers diverse, creative and engaging teacher development workshops led by experienced and professional artists. These range from full day or twilight sessions for your whole staff team to online programmes for individuals alongside your peer teachers from across Devon and Torbay.
All Daisi Teacher Development programmes support your creative journey as a teacher, empowering you to inspire and nurture creativity in your students. This is balanced with activities and knowledge that enable you to teach the practical skills at the core of the National Curriculum, from the youngest age groups until leaving education.
Online Professional Development
For specialists and novices alike, these friendly, supportive online twilight ‘Teacher Nurture’ sessions aim to ignite (or re-ignite!) the flame of inspiration and confidence for you, as a creative person and as a teacher or TA.
With a maximum of 15 participants from both primary and secondary age groups, each course of three Teacher Nurture sessions blend individual exercises with discussion and time to explore how to apply your learning to the needs and abilities of your students.
Below are the current themes. In each online series, the first two sessions take place over consecutive weeks, and the final session is two weeks later, allowing time for you to put your skills and ideas into practice before debriefing with the group in the final session. Each session takes place from 3.45 – 5.45pm.
“It encouraged staff to think outside the box trying new ideas. Encouraged using a wide range of materials and resources for future art.” – Teacher, Denbury Primary School

In-School Professional Development
Daisi also offers diverse, creative and engaging teacher development workshops led by experienced and professional artists, delivered in your school.
In a Daisi Skills in Your School workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to work alongside a professional artist and invest in their own creative practice, taking away knowledge and skills that can be adapted to their own classroom, often making links to other areas of learning or curriculum topics.
Workshops are developed in partnership with your school to tailor the session to suit your needs, aims and outcomes.
“I’ve learnt so much in such a short space of time … even down to paintbrushes. Look what we’ve done – look what we did last week, like with the fan brush – I’ve even been showing my colleagues! … I could actually do my staff meeting with all those different techniques. I could be so much more confident, and not be afraid of it. I mean, I’m not an artist … but look, I AM an artist.
And there’s not anxiety attached to it at all. I started in week 1 and I had so much anxiety – but the warm up activities just totally chill you out … You couldn’t NOT learn … and in a relaxed supportive environment. And to just sit and let the day ebb away …”
