Banners in the Cathedral

Based on the Olympic and Paralympic values, Daisi’s Banners in the Cathedral was a unique opportunity for 1800 children and young people from 59 schools across Devon and Torbay to work with professional Daisi artists.

”Thank you for the absolutely amazing, fantastic and fabulous day.”

Cyann, age 11

Banners in the Cathedral was a partnership project between Daisi, Team Devon and Exeter Cathedral and also received support from the Helen Foundation.  The arresting and substantial artworks were shared with thousands of visitors to Exeter Cathedral, coinciding with the passing of the Olympic Torch Relay through Devon on 20 May 2012.

”Many children were excited about seeing their banner up in the Exeter Cathedral and it reminded me of how important it is for children to be given a voice for many to hear.”

Cara Patterson, Daisi artist

The exhibition was so popular amongst the Cathedral’s visitors that it was extended for an extra week.

”The children were captivated by the topic.”

Emily Steer, Class Teacher, Decoy Community Primary School
