Art to Start

“It’s a very special world, Sam’s 3 year old world.”

Hugh Nankivell, Daisi musician

Art to Start explored child-centred approaches to creativity in the Early Years Foundation stage, through growing the relationship between professional artists and setting staff.

“The project residencies were at their most effective when the artist and key member of staff felt secure enough in their partnership to take risks.”

Daisi’s Art to Start was an action research pilot project.  It was set up to create opportunities for artists and teachers to explore child-centred approaches to creative arts experiences together, through provoking, documenting and analysing the creative learning journeys of Early Years children.
