ArtEffect | Promoting Positive Mental Health

Booking now | Artist-led sessions to support young people’s mental health in your school

Since 2017, Daisi has been developing an arts specific workshop programme, that is directly aimed at supporting the emotional, psychological and social well being needs of children and young people in Devon and Torbay.

Working with a range of creative practitioners and through collaboration and consultation with The Zone In Plymouth, Youth Arts and Health Trust, as well as teachers, support workers, primary, secondary and special needs school pupils, Daisi has refined and shaped an evaluated, demonstrably effective workshop model.

Currently ArtEffect is available for children and young people from 11 – 16 years old who have been identified as needing some extra support with their mental health and wellbeing.

The workshops are effective due to the structure and specific delivery skills of the trained creative practitioners.

ArtEffect is a carefully designed creative therapeutic intervention.
It is not and does not attempt to be a form of prescribed Art Therapy.

What are the evidenced benefits for young people who engage in ArtEffect workshops?

  • increased confidence and resilience
  • better able to cope with making mistakes
  • increased levels of engagement and positive outcomes
  • ability to recognise links between creative success and the impact on their emotions
  • being reassured and able to express themselves
  • identified feeling safer and calmer
  • feeling connected and supported
  • expressed a willingness and interest in engaging in future projects and creative work

It’s a safe environment to be yourself through art. People understand what you are going through and are supportive.

I’ve learnt that mistakes are proof that you are trying. It’s OK to get something wrong. I can have another go.
