Teacher Nurture: The Power of Print
For specialists and novices alike, these friendly, supportive series’ of three online twilight sessions aim to ignite (or re-ignite!) the flame of inspiration and confidence for you, as a creative person and as a teacher or TA.
Work with Double Elephant artist Simon Ripley to explore the breadth, accessibility and joy of printmaking. Over the three weeks, you’ll build your confidence through a range of techniques that incorporate both mark making and printing multiple images. You’ll consider materials, surfaces and processes, and come away with a range of skills that transfer into the classroom but also feed into your own creative life. Across the three workshops, you’ll look at mono print drawing, collograph plate making and dry point etching, with space to touch on other techniques, ask questions and discuss ideas.
With a maximum of 15 participants from both primary and secondary aged groups, sessions blend individual exercises with discussion and time to explore how to apply your learning to the needs and abilities of your students.
Each session will:
- Explore a new technique
- Build upon the previous week’s technique
- Ask questions and explore how you can embed your new skills into your working day
- Offer a piece of practical homework, for you – or even better, for your class
